In creating content for the masses it stands to reason that this product in order to be successful must find a platform in the global market. To be involved in the entertainment industry then, in any capacity, means to open up to the possibility that Australia, on its own just cannot cut it any more. I'm not sure if Australia was ever able to cut it. There is no point in struggling in an environment that is forever shrinking, limiting creativity for lack of funds, and talent, then becoming disillusioned by it for not providing. It has never provided, nor will it ever provide, enough. It is just too small a country for that. Of course that does not mean that artists should just throw it all in. To put a great slogan to good use here...Think globally, act locally. Friends of Earth Slogan, 1985.

I wonder if any start up business in Australia starts off by thinking that it will work and create a product that is purely for the Australian market and solely work towards that. I'm more inclined to think that Australian businesses start off by thinking that their product will be launched in Australia with the view to grow and globalise their product.

Individuals in the entertainment industry or in any other artistic industry must adopt the same view. The work that is created can be launched here in Australia, but have the potential to be forwarded onto the rest of the world. Only then will fulfilment be achieved. Art is for the world; it is for a global exhibition. The means are there, the electronic interdependence has made sure of that. It is time that Australia is respected for what it provides, but also time for all of those individuals in the artistic fields to understand that their mindset must be removed from a provincial setting, mentally, possibly physically, emotionally, socially and financially.

There is a big wide world out there. Embrace it for all that it can provide; and provide it will.

Writer's block

Georgia O'Keefe In the previous blog, I wrote about the the human form and the importance of it in creativity and art.  Mastering the human form will allow the creator to master other forms in nature. I have some palm trees in the back yard which have surprised me by how high they have become.  They were sold as small trees and now over power my small back area, towering over the trees in suburban Melbourne.  Despite their height, I have enjoyed the changes that they display with each season.  I don't know much about palm trees, but come autumn, they shed some of the old branches and their bark.  Mornings I will wake to find these scattered in my very small yard, did I already say I have a small yard?  You can imagine the space these take.  In any case, recently I found a piece of the bark on the groun
